From the Richmond Dispatch, 4/24/1861, p. 1
We beg to suggest to the ladies that they prepare bandages and lint for the soldiers that may be called to distant fields of service. The ladies of Union and Church Hills are already acting with the spirit that inspired the heroic matrons of '76. Let all of the ladies who favor this suggestion (those residing on Church and Union Hills, we mean,) meet to-day, at 11 o'clock, at Springfield Hall. The gathering will be one of choice spirits, we have no doubt. Let all come.
