From the Richmond Dispatch, 7/25/1861 , p. 2

Hard Set. - Several men, lately belonging to the Ellsworth's Zouaves, who were badly wounded in the battle Sunday and left on the field by their friends to die, were brought to this city yesterday for medical treatment. The appearance of all, and the bearing of some, abundantly justified the inference that it would have been doing the country a service not to have left any of them alive. They were carried to the Hospital, north end of 2d street . They will receive nothing but kindness here, but they don't deserve any. They are all "villains of a low degree," if the sample we saw, was a good one.
