Sir,
            I have inspected Hosl & have the honor to report it in good condition. I would respectfully call your attention to the 1st Barracks occupied by the guard, the stove pipe exploded scarce by six inches above the roof & when large fires are made, the building is liable at any time to be burnt.

The officers quarters were properly policed, but I would also call your attention to the construction of the stove pipes there, many of them project but a foot or so from the side of the house & when there is any wind at all it blows into the pipes, filling the rooms with smoke, & rendering them untenable. As I write now I am nearly blinded by the smoke.
