A Fatal Accident.
At 9:55 yesterday morning the ambulance was summoned to the Tredegar Iron Works, where a young colored man named Samuel Mayo, who lives in Manchester, was fatally hurt.
The man was engaged in doing some excavating, when a bank of dirt caved in upon him with the above-named result. On examination it was found that one hip was broken, and one leg was broken in several places. Serious internal injuries were also sustained by the unfortunate man. He was taken to the almshouse, where he lingered until 11 o’clock and died. The coroner viewed the body, but deemed an inquest unnecessary.
