SUTLERS STORES are opening along Main street with a rapidity that is astonishing. The largest, most varied and complete stock that we have seen is that exposed by Mr. John Clark, No. 230 Main street, above 8th, whose card appears in our advertising columns this morning. The finest groceries and most delicate luxuries, rich and rare, preserved fruits, and sweet meats of every description are to be found in abundance upon their shelves.
Two fine stores have been opened on Main street, between 7th and 8th streets, by Messrs. Baumhard & Lawson, one in the old stand of the former, and the other in the late “Hood House,” now the “General Grant Restaurant,” where also excellent meals are served.
