THE SPOTSWOOD HOTEL. – A statement has been recently published which does a great injustice to Mr. Corkery, proprietor of the Spotswood Hotel. The writer charges that the coffee is bad, the tea is execrable, and the bill of fare generally not fit for the delicate palate of gentlemen. We know from experience, and we have the verification of one who has spent many months in a Richmond prison, that contending, as the proprietor has to do, with difficulties of the most stupendous sort – against hard times, scarcity and high prices – the Spotswood has given a bill of fare not only excellent for the times, but far above the average, and which would do no credit to better times.
