A "Riot" Case. – Dr. Thomas M. Palmer, who stands charged with encountering a riot in the streets of the city, was yesterday held to bail by Recorder Caskie in the sum of $1,000 to answer an indictment for misdemeanor before Judge Meredith. The main point of testimony against the Doctor is that he refused to depart when the crowd was ordered by the Governor and the Mayor to disperse, and made use of some language not altogether suitable to the occasion. He was a member of the Convention which took Florida out of the Union; has been in the service of the Confederacy from an early period of the war and in many battles; and his loyalty is vouched for by the Secretary of the Navy and by members of both branches of Congress. Gen. Geo. W. Randolph and John H. Gilmer, Esq., are his counsel.
