At Work. – The steam fire engine was engaged the greater part of the day yesterday in throwing water on that portion of the Public Warehouse lately consumed by fire. The fact that the smoldering embers had blazed forth at unusual hours several times since the great fire, had caused one or more needless alarms to be given. The inquiry into the origins of the fire had not terminated yesterday.
