1862-12-17, Richmond Dispatch; Maxcy Gregg’s body arrived 12/15 – placed in Provost Marshal’s office. City Battalion & Public Guard, with full band, escorted it to R&P RR depot 12/16 afternoon. Route of parade given. No Hollywood.
1863-01-07, Richmond Dispatch; description of the festivities outside the White House of the Confederacy welcoming Jefferson Davis back – interesting description of his speech.
1863-02-14, Richmond Dispatch; City Battalion dress parade on Capitol Square, 2/13
1863-03-04, Richmond Dispatch; City Battalion to be enlarged to regiment. New quarters being built at “Rutherfoord’s lot” at head of Main St.
1863-03-18, Richmond Dispatch; Grand Ball to benefit Brown’s Island sufferers, 3/23 at Military Hall over Old Market.
