From the Richmond Enquirer, 11/25/1861
AN ADDITION TO OUR YANKEE POPULATION. - Two prisoners of war, captured by our scouts in the vicinity of Newport's News, a day or two ago, reached Richmond on Wednesday evening, under proper escort, and were accommodated with quarters in the Confederate States Hotel. Their names are George Wieland and Tothern Krischer, privates of the New York Seventh Regiment - not the "famous Seventh" of New York city, the grateful recipients of Virginia hospitality a few years ago, but a regiment of State militia volunteers, (?) recruited chiefly with Hessians, "expressly for this occasion," and panting equally with a desire to distinguish themselves in the field, and to sign the pay roll of the mutilated and now seedy "Uncle Sam."
