Shockoe Hill Burying-Ground is rapidly filling up, and in the course of a few years another cemetery will be brought into general use. – Oakwood may answer for years to come, and is beautifully located for the resting place of the dead. In passing through Shockoe Hill Cemetery yesterday morning, we noticed a young lady weeping over the tomb of her mother, and endeavoring to obliterate the dark pencil marks that had been thoughtlessly made on the white marble slab, by some visitor. How cruel it is to deface the tomb of the dead, and to break the shrubbery placed over it by mourning friends! And yet how often are the hearts of the living made to bleed at such acts of unkindness!
