Fire Destroys Tredegar Oil
About 500 gallons of oil were destroyed and some equipment damaged last night about 11:30 o’clock in a fire at the Tredegar Iron Works at the south end of Sixth Street.
The oil, which was in an open concrete tub, became ignited while hot bars of iron were being run through the bath in the usual manner, employees said. Firemen from three engine companies and a truck and a fomite company experienced some difficulties extinguishing the fire but it was conquered in about 15 minutes. No estimate of the damage had been made early today.
