Tredegar Negotiators To Meet
Representatives of union and Tredegar Company will meet at 10 A. M. Wednesday in an attempt to iron out difficulties which resulted in last Thursday’s walkout of some 160 members of an AFL Federal Labor Union.
The meeting was arranged by United States Labor Conciliator Thomas B. Morton.
Tredegar has offered a wage of 67 1-2 cents an hour for affected employees making below 65 cents an hour and 5 cents an hour increase on wage rates above 63 cents an hour, according to a union spokesman who said the local is asking an increase of 15 cents an hour.
The plant has been completely shut down since the strike of employees engaged in the manufacture of railroad spikes, horseshoes and clinch bars.
