2d Gun at Tredegar Proves False Clue
The mystery slaying of John Ernest Krengel, 69-year-old patternmaker, who was killed and robbed on September 6, appeared no nearer solution yesterday as Detective Chief Garton reported that the second pistol found at the Tredegar Iron Works, scene of the slaying, was not the murder weapon.
The FBI at Washington returned its report to the Richmond Detective Bureau yesterday on test bullets fired from the second gun. The report stated that the markings on the bullets from the second revolver did not correspond to the bullet found in Mr. Krengel’s brain. Meanwhile, Chief Garton said that detectives were still working on the case.
