HAS not Miss Lizzie Van Lew, postmaster at Richmond, Virginia, engaged in a losing game, by deciding that a Congressman’s frank will not carry a letter mailed at her office when the Honorable Member is not in the city? It’s all very well to interfere with the small practice indulged in by some Congressmen of furnishing franked envelopes to their friends, but it does no good, except to incur the enmity of such Representatives, and to strengthen their opposition to the abolition of their cherished franking privilege. – Pittsburg Commercial.
