From the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 5/17/1903, p. 16, c. 4
In speaking of the Battle Abbey, the Davis monument and the Stuart monument soon to be erected in Richmond, the Baltimore Sun says:
“As the capital of the Confederacy and the objective point of the most extensive Federal campaigns, Richmond is naturally the Mecca of ex-Confederates. And it is accumulating a series of statues and museums that will make it notable among the ‘monumental cities’ of the world”
Don’t forget, in this connection, that Richmond must have a great Confederate rally when all these memorials shall have been completed.
