VIRGINIUS BOSSIEUX
Virginius Bossieux, seventy-five years old*, one of the members of the Richmond Grays who fought through the Civil War, died Thursday [April 28th.] at 10:00 o’clock at the Retreat for the sick, after a long illness. Mr. Bossieux was a member of R.E. Camp, Confederate Veterans. He is survived by his brother, Edmund (Edmond) Bossieux and several nephews, among them being Major C Gray Bossieux and Julian Bossieux of this city.
The funeral will be from St. John’s Episcopal Church at 3:30 o’clock this afternoon. Internment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
****R.E.L. Krick note: This would make the year of birth 1835; However, in a letter dated June 29, 1832, Virginius’ father inquires about his health. He was not listed in the 1830 census, therefore his birth was after the 1830 census but prior to June, 1832. It appears, from the letter, that Virginius was an infant at that time. I would guess that Virginius was born early in 1832.
Don’t know how C. Gray obtained the title “Major” unless he inherited from his father, Louis Juste Bossieux .
