ASSAULT. – At a late hour on Saturday night Mr. Richard Turner, well known from his connection with the Libby prison during the war, was severely handled by ruffians. Mr. Turner states that he was met by three white men, one of whom knocked him down. He must have been senseless for some time, as, when he came to himself, the rascals were out of sight. His jawbone was broken and several lower teeth knocked down his throat. Dr. Waring rendered him timely surgical assistance, and he is now doing well. – Richmond Dispatch.
