A CITIZEN OF PETERSBURG MURDERED. - Mr. James R. Pride, a well known citizen of Petersburg, Va., was shot and almost instantly killed, near his own residence, on Friday morning last, by Thomas R. Jeter. The testimony before the Coroner's inquest disclosed the fact that an unpleasant feeling has existed between the families of the two, who lived adjacent to each other, and that a charge had been made against the Jeters of purloining cabbages, which as doubtless the origin of the bloody deed. Mr. Jeter has been employed for some time past at the Foundry of Joseph R. Anderson & Co., in Richmond, and only returned home last week to spend the Christmas with his family. He admitted that he killed Pride, and voluntarily surrendered himself to the police and was taken to jail.
