From the Richmond Whig, 6/11/1862, p. 1, c. 1
MONEY RECEIVED. – We have received from Mrs. Mary J. Cowherd, Orange county, a contribution of $10 for the Hampton refugees' fund. We are glad to see that in the multifarious claims on the beneficence of the people this one is not overlooked.
We are requested by Dr. Lunday, the surgeon in charge of "Kent Hospital" to acknowledge the receipt of $10 from Milo Booher, and $5 from a lady – contributions to that hospital to be expended for the benefit of the wounded soldiers.
