From the Richmond Whig, 8/17/1861
THE GENERAL HOSPITAL. - We have not visited this place for several days, and are unable to say whether or not it is still monopolized by the Federal prisoners, but we are gratified to know that every citizen who has spoken out on the subject, within our hearing, concurs with us in the opinion that the sick and wounded Confederate soldiers are entitled to the privilege of occupying it, in preference to the murderers of our own people. It is the best ventilated and probably the best arranged Hospital in this city.
