The Basin. –This trap for the drowning of persons should have a railing placed around it to prevent accidents. Within the last year or two, a number of persons have met their death by walking into it at night, and unable to get out. A night or two since, a baker, named Rush, while on his way to Gamble’s Hill, fell into the water, and would have been drowned, but his cries attracted the attention of a citizen, who rescued him.
