MAYOR'S COURT - Present RECORDER CASKIE - April 8, 1863. - Mrs. Sarah Davis, of Oregon Hill, was charged with receiving a lot of shoes and calico, stolen from some person unknown.
Officer Kelley testified that he went to Mrs. Davis' house with a search warrant; he asked her if she had any of the goods stolen during the riot; she said she had some shoes which she had picked up in the street; on searching found to pair of new shoes and an odd shoe and a piece of new calico; the calico she said belonged to her sister.
Mrs. Lucy Bernard, sister of the accused, testified that the calico belonged to her, and that she had left it at her house.
Mrs. Davis was sent on to the Hustings Court to answer. [remainder of cases do not deal with the riot and were not transcribed.]
