From the Richmond Examiner, Friday, 7/11/1862, p. 2
THE HOSPITAL in Lanier's store, under the Spotswood Hotel, has been again emptied of its wounded, and is being prepared for others. The Danville railroad hospital has been opened in the railroad shops of the company at Manchester, under the care of Surgeon A. Sillason. The hospitals generally are experiencing a thinning out of the number of inmates, many going to their homes on furlough, and others being convalescent enough to walk about the streets. Enough remain, however, to tax the undying patriotism and devotion of the people to its utmost.
