HUMANE. – A few days ago, a large number of the sick soldiers brought to this city from Fairfax and its vicinity, were conveyed to the spacious tobacco factory of Capt. John H. Greanor, on 22d street, which had been extemporized into a hospital, where, for a day or two, they suffered much, for the lack of proper attentions and sustenance. This circumstance coming to the ears of a number of patriotic ladies of Church Hill, prominent among whom were the family of Capt. Greanor, they busied themselves with humane energy in behalf of our suffering volunteers, and in a very few hours had overwhelmed them with such kindnesses and creature-comforts as only the tender heart of woman could suggest, and the gentle hand of woman render. The hospital is at present the best supplied, perhaps, in the city.
