Narrow Escape. – On Saturday morning last, during the ringing of the fire-bells, on of the engines, which was drawn by two or three men, came dashing down 19th street to Main, and on suddenly turning the corner, ran into a carriage which was coming up Main, and in which was a Mrs. King and her son, from Fulton Hill, breaking by its force the front axletree, overturning the vehicle, knocking the mule attached to it down, and considerably frightening the occupants themselves, but fortunately inflicting no serious personal injury. The tongue of the engine struck diagonally the front axletree, snapping it in two with as much ease as if it had been a pipe stem.
