Strike Among the Grave Diggers. – The Irish grave diggers at Hollywood Cemetery are on a strike for higher wages. The Superintendent refused to accede to their demands and then employed a lot of negroes to do the work; but before they had fairly gotten under way the strikers pitched into them with shillelaghs and drove them off. It is stated that a force of negroes from the penitentiary was finally permitted yesterday to set in undisturbed. The amount paid the Irish grave diggers was seven dollars per day.
