MR. JOHN MILLER AND HIS SON SHOT. – A crowd of colored boys congregated near the premises of Mr. John Miller, on the corner of Second and Leigh streets, at a late hour Friday night, and became very disorderly. Mr. Miller sent his son Otto out to tell them to cease their noise, as his wife was very ill. The negroes refused, and Otto returned to the house and informed his father of the fact. Mr. Miller and his son subsequently went out together to where the crowd was, and again asked the boys to stop making a noise. They still refused, and fired several pistol shots at Mr. Miller and his son. One of the balls took effect in young Miller’s head just above the eye, and will probably cause him to lose one eye. Mr. Miller was struck with a ball upon each side of his face.

The matter was reported to the police, and yesterday Sergeant Hall, of the Second district, arrested a mulatto boy, about sixteen years of age, named George Seay, charged with being implicated in the shooting. Probably other arrests will be made before the Police Court meets this morning and Seay’s case is called.

Mr. Miller is the keeper of Shockoe Hill cemetery.
