Attempt to Break Out of Jail – A few evenings since, a determined, though unsuccessful, effort was made by the inmates of cell No 6 in the city jail to effect their escape. They made a breach in the wall by the side of the door, and got into the Northern yard. While there they sunk a hole about six feet deep beside the outer wall, and no doubt intended to burrow out, but daylight appeared before they had time to accomplish their object, and they retired to their cell to await a more favorable opportunity.
