Alderman’s Hustings Court, Wednesday, March 11th. – Present, James K. Caskie, Recorder; R. D. Sanxay, Senior Alderman; James Bray, F. C. Lipscombe, Wm. W. Timberlake, John F. Regnault and John W. Beveridge, Aldermen.

…William, a slave, the property of George A. Hundley, and Bill, a slave, the property of Charles A. Rose, were tried for a felony committed by them on the 25th of January, 1863, in stealing from the C. S. Custom House $12,000 in C. S. Treasury notes, and $5,000 in unsigned bonds. They plead not guilty. The parties were found guilty and ordered to be punished to the full extent of the law – 39 lashes.
