From the Richmond Dispatch, 2/4/1863, p. 1, c. 4
Mustered In. – The City Battalion, Major Elliott commanding, were reorganized a few days since by swearing in the members to serve for and during the war. The majority of the men re-enlisted under the new programme, but a number declined to re-enlist. These latter were requested to stand aside, and when the ceremonies incident to the new enrollment had been concluded, were taken in charge by the Provost Guards, and all those who were subject to the Conscript law were carried to Camp Lee, only citizens of Maryland and persons under or over age being allowed to escape.
