From the Richmond Dispatch, 1/8/1863, p. 1, c. 6
Acquitted. – Wm. Campbell, a member of the 3d company New Orleans Washington Artillery, was taken before C. S. Commissioner Watson yesterday, and examined on the charge of forging army passports and discharges. He was acquitted, the evidence adduced not being sufficient to justify his detention for trial. Campbell was given in custody of C. S. Deputy Marshal B???, and consigned to Castle Thunder, to await his trial before Court Martial for desertion.
