From the Richmond Dispatch, 9/12/1854, p. 2, c. 3

INTERMENTS. – For the past week ending the 10th inst., there were thirty-three interments in the Shockoe Hill Burying Ground – 15 of this number were whites, and 18 negroes. Out of the whites there were three cholera cases – two males and one female. Out of the negroes there were eight cholera cases, all males. Of the 15 white interments, three of them were children under 12 years of age. Of the 18 negroes, four of them were under 12 years of age.

These facts show the health of the city to be excellent, and must convince all unprejudiced minds that strangers have nothing to fear in visiting Richmond.

At Hollywood Cemetery there were ten interments the past week, not one of which was caused by cholera.
