From the Richmond Dispatch, 6/25/1861, p. 2
Col. William Gilham, of the Virginia Military Institute, has been authorized to raise a regiment of light infantry, of which he will have command. The regiment will consist of ten companies, of not less than 80 men each. Col. Gilham is now commanding the Camp of Instruction, Central Fair Grounds. To persons desiring to enter the service of their country under a perfectly competent leader, the above offers rare inducements.
