From the Richmond Dispatch, 11/12/1862, p. 1, c. 5
NOTICE. – Whereas, several hundred dollars were placed in my hands some months ago to disburse for the benefit of the families of soldiers who might be disabled at Drury's Bluff; and whereas no such necessity has arisen I hereby request all subscribers to call on me at the office of the Virginia Life Insurance Company, and take back the respective amounts. Some persons merely entered "cash" in subscribing, and it is, consequently, impossible for me to know their names.
