From the Richmond Dispatch, 10/2/1862, p. 2, c. 2
By the list of negroes who were captured by our troops, while with the enemy or in his vicinity, it appears that of the ninety-eight blacks brought to Richmond, and confined in the Libby prison, forty-six are slaves and fifty-two are Northern free negroes, captured while acting in the capacity of servants to the Yankee officers. Since the list was published, a number of the slaves have been called for, and reclaimed by their respective owners. It is not known yet what action the Government has determined to take in relation to the free negroes.
