From the Richmond Dispatch, 8/18/1862
STRAYED OR STOLEN – On the 16th or 17th of July, from Winder Hospital, a large, bright bay MARE, with black legs, newly shod behind, and pasterns somewhat swollen from scratches. She has a small star in her forehead, is slightly marked with the saddle, and has a slight indentation in the side from an old wound, easily perceived upon examination. Her mane turns mostly the wrong way. I will give a reward of $25 for her recovery and return to 4th Division, Winder Hospital. She has been seen and recognized twice since taken.
STEWARD, 4th Division,
Winder Hospital.
