From the Richmond Dispatch, 7/1/1862, p. 2, c. 3
Twenty Yankee prisoners were brought to town Sunday morning about ten o'clock, attended by an escort of cavalry, three of whom rode in front bearing stands of colors captured from the enemy. One was the old U.S. flag, one a New Jersey State flag, and the third belonged to a Massachusetts regiment. They were all large and of silk, and simply as flags, very good. The cavalcade that bore them attracted much attention. The articles were left at the War Office.
