Dear Major

At the request of John Goddard a prisoner from the Castle now a convalescent patient in this Hospital I write to request you to have his case investigated as soon as you can. He is from Fayette County Va and says he is guiltless of any crime or disloyalty to the South & begs a hearing in order that he may be returned to a large family dependant on him for support. His request appears reasonable and I therefore request you compliance with it.
