THE PICTURE RETURNED. – Last summer we noticed the reception at the Libby prison of a New York Yankee Major, on a charge alleged against him of pillaging the property of Mr. Lewis Washington, of Jefferson County, and stealing therefrom an original picture of George Washington, by Steuart. The Major was paroled and sent home, on condition that the picture should be returned. The picture arrived by the flag of truce boat of Saturday and was delivered into the hands of Captain Bossieux, who turned it over to Gen. Winder, to be restored to its owner. The fact has developed more honesty than we expected to find the Yankee nation. – Richmond Examiner.
