TOO LOYAL FOR THE ADMINISTRATION.
To the Editor of The Tribune,
SIR: I read this morning the editorial on Miss Van Lew. This action of the present Administration is not surprising in the least, but on a par with the rest of its acts. This woman was not only loyal and rendered service to her country, but at her house the poor Union prisoners always could find a refuge after escaping from Libby Prison, and by her exertions many were sent safe to the Union lines again. I would like to see the sentiments expressed in this morning’s paper echoed in every loyal paper in the land.
