Castle Thunder – Owing to very abusive language yesterday one of the guard at this prison found it necessary to discharge his musket at a prisoner. The ball struck within a few inches of the man’s head. Richard Fitsmaurice and Harvey Simmons, citizen prisoners against whom serious charges have been preferred, were transferred yesterday from the Libby prison to Castle Thunder. Gen Jones yesterday sent to the same place three men who had deserted from the Abolition army in the Valley. Chas Baton and Tim McMahon inmates of the prison, were taken before Judge Halyburton on habeas corpus and released.
