From the Richmond Dispatch, 4/4/1863, p. 1, c. 4
Sent Home. – Yesterday, a flag of truce, in charge of Lieut. Bossieux, carried away from this city 309 Abolitionists, including fourteen commissioned officers, among whom was Col. Stewart. They were carried to Yankee Land from City Point by the steamboat Express, Capt. Moore which also brought up fourteen of our officers, who were sent to Richmond in exchange for those carried down.- Among the fourteen thus restored to their friends was Major Sneed, formerly of this city, captured in Missouri. On Thursday a Yankee boat arrived at City Point with from 300 to 500 of our men, some of whom were captured at Arkansas Post. –The Abolition prisoners now in Richmond are mostly officers.
