THE POSTOFFICE DIFFICULTY. – We understand that Mr. E. J. Doughty was removed from his position as superintendent of the letter carrier’s department in the postoffice last evening, for reasons that have not publicly transpired. This action was followed by the withdrawal of the force under him, which resulted in a failure to deliver the mail throughout the city with the usual promptness to-day. A new force has, however, been organized by Miss Van Lew, and by to-morrow or next day the mail matter will be delivered with the accustomed regularity.
