From the Richmond Dispatch, 4/6/1863, p. 2, c. 2

BY THE GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA - A PROCLAMATION. - Information having been received by the Executive that PATRICK O’DONNELL, a convict in the Penitentiary, who was condemned by the Hustings Court of the city of Richmond to three years’ imprisonment for the crime of robbery, escaped therefrom on the morning of the fourth instant, and is now going at large; therefore, I do hereby offer a reward of one hundred dollars to any person or persons who shall arrest the said convict and deliver him into the Penitentiary; and I do moreover require all officers of this Commonwealth, civil and military, and request the people generally, to use their exertion as to procure the arrest of the said Patrick O’Donnell that he may be brought to justice.

Given under my hand as Governor, and under the less seat of the Commonwealth, at Richmond, this 4th day of April, in this year 1863.                                                                                                     JOHN LETCHER

Patrick O’Donnell is a native of Mayo county, Ireland. He is 5 feet 8 ½ inches high, 26 years old, having light hair and blue eyes, and was dressed as a Penitentiary convict.                            ap 6-3t
