A New Street Proposed Near the Tredegar Works.

At the meeting of the Finance Committee Tuesday night it was decided to recommend the appropriation of $12,000 to build a retaining wall in rear of the Tredegar Iron-Works and open a street by which access for vehicles will be gained to the Old pump-house. At the present time the only way to reach this part of the city’s property is through the works of the Tredegar Company. This the company object to, claiming that it is dangerous because the yard-engine is liable to frighten horses.

If the Council decides to adopt the recommendation the new street will run from the foot of Seventh street along by the river-side, on property which will be given for the purpose by the Tredegar Company.
