C. & O. Awaits Permit To Fill Up Canal Here

Starting of work to fill up and cover over a section of the old James River and Kanawha Canal will await written permission from the State Corporation Commission, Richard Brooke, assistant general manager of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, said yesterday.

Authority to fill that part of the canal between Thirteenth Street and the Tredegar Iron Works will be granted to the C. & O. and the Virginia Electric and Power Company, the State Corporation Commission said Thursday.
