FRESHET IN THE RIVER. - James River is now higher at his point than it has been at any time since 1847, when several sections of Mayo’s bridge were carried off by the flood. All the cellars bordering on Shockoe Creek are inundated, but the loss of property is comparatively small, as the cellars of the store houses were mostly empty. The water, yesterday, was nearly up to the hubs of wagon wheels, on Cary street, opposite to Talbot’s Foundry, and was washing the curbing at the First Market arch, on Franklin street. The river was still rising, yesterday, but we are hopeful that the water will subside to-day, as it was falling at Lynchburg at last accounts.
