Drowned. – Yesterday morning Martin Shine, an employé of the Old Dominion Nail Works, on Belle Isle, in crossing from this side of the river, near the Tredegar Works, to the island, was drowned by the capsizing of the boat which he was using. The cause of the upsetting of the boat is not known, as no one witnessed the accident; but the boat was afterwards found, bottom up, floating down the river.
Mr. Shine was a native of Ireland, and about forty years of age, and leaves a wife. He was a very steady and industrious man, and was much thought of by his employers, as well as by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
