From the Richmond Dispatch, 3/9/1866, p. 1, c. 4

PROVOST COURT – LIEUTENANT-COLONEL J. McENTEE. – W. A. White and John James, United States soldiers, were found guilty of being drunk and disorderly, and sent to the Libby for ten days each.

William Payne, negro, was charged with stealing old iron. He pleaded guilty, and was sent to prison for thirty days.

Calvin Preston, William Underwood, John Gaines, and J. Ishmael, all negroes, who had been sent in from the county under charges of robbery and arson, were found guilty. Preston was sent to the penitentiary for three years, Underwood and Gaines for two years each, and Ishmael for one year.
